Arvind Trivedi- television’s Ravan is no more

Ramayana and Mahabharat are two of the biggest mythology in India and on television they have had the perfect adaptation during the Doordarshan era. Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan had attained cult status and one of the most iconic roles remains of Arvind Trivedi who played Ravan in the series. Unfortunately the actor passed away today at the age of 82.

 

The actor was not well for quite some time and this morning he suffered a heart attack that led to multiple organ failure. The actor leaves us for heavenly abode but surely leaves a huge void in Indian television. The actor’s passing away has left many saddened and have expressed their grief on social media.

Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi took to his Twitter account to express his grief and share some kind words for the actor. Mr Narendra Modi shared a lovely picture where he’s seen on stage with the late Arvind Trivedi, shaking hands with him. His tweet reads, “We have lost Shri Arvind Trivedi, who was not only an exceptional actor but also was passionate about public service. For generations of Indians, he will be remembered for his work in the Ramayan TV serial. Condolences to the families and admirers of both actors. Om Shanti.”

Amit Shah too took to his social media and spoke about the actor and showered him with praises and passed on condolences to his family. He said, “Arvind Trivedi ji not only left an indelible mark on the film world with his excellent acting in Ramayana, but his acting settled in the hearts of people. He will always be in our memory with his remarkable performance and public service work. I express my condolences to their families.”

Meanwhile, Arvind Trivedi’s co-stars Arun Govil and Sunil Lahri who played Ram and Lakshman respectively in Ramayan, too shared their emotions as they are deeply shaken with this news. Sunil Lahri shared a picture of the actor on Instagram and said that he was really sad to hear the news. He even calls him his father-figure, guide and well-wisher.

Arun Govil shared his feelings through a tweet and praised the actor for being kind and said that he will have a straight path to heaven and have the company of Lord Shri Ram himself. 

Arvind Trivedi had also acted in hit TV series – Vikram Aur Betaal. He even acted in several Gujarati films and has also been a Member of Parliament from 1991 to 1996. He has also served as an acting chairman for the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) for a short time. The actor’s final rites will take place today at Dahanukarwadi crematorium, Kandivali West, in Mumbai.
