Artist Puts Dark Souls Assets in Unreal Engine 5 With High Quality Lighting and the Result is Staggering

A digital artist has put Dark Souls assets from the city of Anor Londo in Unreal Engine 5, and the result is stunning.

We’ve seen plenty of Dark Souls Unreal Engine 5 imaginings over the past year, including a Dark Souls 3 showcase and a Dark Souls IV concept video. This new creation by computer graphics artist ‘SilasCG’, however, is something else and deserves to be watched. Basically, the artist used game assets from the city of Anor Londo and put them into Epic’s Unreal Engine 5 complete with some new elements. This short video showcases the entrance of the archives, upper Anor Londo, the bridge, the elevator, the cathedral entrance, the Silver Knight Bow area, the indoor entrance, the bonfire solaire, the chamber, the cathedral, and the Ornstein and Smaug boss room.

The showcase also includes a short comparison of Anor Londo in the original game and the Unreal Engine 5 version. I couldn’t help getting some Game of Thrones vibes while watching this video.

“I wanted to see how Dark Souls Anor Londo assets would look like in the Unreal Engine 5 with high-quality lighting, so I made this video”, the artist writes on YouTube. “I added some elements, but most are still Dark Souls 1 assets. There are more videos to come that are supposed to show old video game assets in UE5 or are even complete-level remakes.”

As said, the result is quite staggering, and we’re pretty sure that Souls fans will appreciate this showcase. Check it out below and judge for yourself:

Originally released in 2011 for PS3 and Xbox 360, Dark Souls 1 is considered to be the spiritual successor to 2009’s Demon’s Souls from FromSoftware.  In 2012, the game also made its way to PC (alongside PS3 and Xbox 360) in the form of the Prepare To Die Edition, containing the main game as well as the Artorias of the Abyss DLC. A remastered version of the title, Dark Souls Remastered, was released in 2018.
