Arthur Nery drops jazz-inflected single, embarks on Canadian tour
In his latest single, “O Ninanais,” Arthur Nery veers ever so slightly away from the hauntingly smooth and sultry R&B songs that made him one of last year’s five most streamed Filipino artists on Spotify.
This time, the 27-year-old breakout artist goes down the jazz route—his mellifluous falsetto coasting along tinkling ivories and the occasional buzz of brass. The song, which he wrote and coproduced with Su Ganade and Axel Fernandez, is about being deeply in love—the kind that’s intoxicating and comforting all at once.
Despite his stylistic experimentations, the song’s vibe is undeniably Arthur’s. In just two weeks, “O Ninanais” has notched more than 1.3 million streams on Spotify and YouTube. “I’m thrilled with the good reception it has received from the fans,” said Arthur, whose songs “Pagsamo” and “Isa Lang” became the second and fifth most streamed local songs on Spotify, respectively.
In support of “O Ninanais,” the singer-songwriter is set to embark on a Canadian tour, which kicks off on March 10 at the Global Kingdom Ministries in Toronto. He will then play concerts at the River Rock Theatre in Richmond on March 11, and Christ the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Edmonton on March 12. A series of shows in the United States is also in the works of the recording artist. I look forward to connecting with more people in Canada.”
