Arsenal under fire as Gunners suffer repeat of Havertz issue with Timber
In a similar fashion to how Kai Havertz’s first interview as an Arsenal player was leaked before the club could officially confirm the transfer, Jurrien Timber’s brother appears to have let it slip that the Dutchman has completed his move to the Emirates. Fans are eagerly awaiting announcements confirming that Timber and Declan Rice have joined the Gunners this week with reports suggesting they will hear in the next couple of days.
But Timber’s brother Shamier Timber Coffie obviously didn’t get the memo and has uploaded an image of the defender’s farewell party onto Instagram over the weekend that all but confirms the paperwork has been signed. The picture included a large cardboard background with Timber in an Arsenal shirt with “Jurrien’s goodbye party. See you in the streets of London,” written across it.
This comes just weeks after Arsenal’s announcement video for the signing of Kai Havertz was leaked online before it had been formally announced by the club.
Venting his frustrations about the video being posted before he could explain why he was leaving Chelsea, Havertz took to social media to explain: “I would have preferred for you to hear my thoughts on leaving Chelsea first from myself before my thoughts on me joining my new team.
“This isn’t my style and it upsets me that you had to hear of it in this way.” The fact that this has happened twice in the space of a month is not a good look for Arsenal and many supporters have come out and criticised how long it has taken for the Gunners to announce their signings this summer.
One fan (@OcasFootball) tweeted: “Arsenal were taking too long they decided to announce it themselves.”
Another (@AFCThing) wrote: “Don’t know why Arsenal always take a lot time to announce new players. Are they short in comms department? We can assist them.”
While a third (@bareend_g) added: “Arsenal very poor with player announcements again.”
A fourth (@920401) wrote of Timber: “We will announce him next month along with Rice when the hype is completely dead. Arsenal Media style.”
And another (@Ansarrriii) said: “Ugh.. why do we have to keep sitting on it, the news leaks out somehow eventually anyways. Guess the club must have legal reasons or something.”
