Cazorla had a productive spell in the Middle East, scoring 32 goals and assisting 30 in 76 games while winning six trophies.

His contract is due to end in the summer but the ex-Arsenal and Spain ace has zero intentions to retire.

According to AS, Cazorla could seal a free transfer to boyhood club Real Oviedo.

Cazorla played in Oviedo’s youth ranks before joining Villarreal in 2003.

The two-time FA Cup winner is in continuous contact with the second tier club and has a good relationship with the club’s Mexican owner, Arturo Elias.

AS’ report goes on to state that Cazorla doesn’t want to miss out on the chance to play in an Oviedo shirt.

It isn’t the first time Oviedo have explored the possibility of signing Cazorla.

Last summer, the former adviser to the club’s top shareholder, Federico Gonzalez, admitted that he had entered into conversations with both Juan Mata and Cazorla.

However, both knocked back the offer at the time – but left the door open for a potential future transfer.

Wages are said to not be a problem, despite Cazorla raking in big bux in the Middle East.

The final decision will be a sentimental one, not financial.
