Arnold Schwarzenegger created absolute chaos when he took it upon himself to fill in a pothole in LA that wasn’t a pothole at all but an important service trench.

‘You’re welcome,’ he said, spade in hand, as people drove by admiring his handy work that he would soon come to regret.

Alongside an exasperated video posted by the do-gooder himself to show off his day’s work as he assuredly patted cement into the hole, the 75-year-oldphilosophised the importance of taking action.

‘Today, after the whole neighborhood has been upset about this giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it,’ he wrote.

It seems fellow locals were indeed also fooled by the pothole-pretender, as one drive-by observer thanked him in the video, and said: ‘You have to do it yourself. This is crazy. For three weeks I’ve been waiting for this hole to be closed.”

‘I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. Here you go,’ Arnold continued in the post.

Words of wisdom they may seem from the 38th governor of California and Terminator actor, until you realise his ‘pothole’ correction is going to have to be dug up again.

It was, in fact, a service trench dug by SoCalGas that relates to active work being performed by the company.

‘This location is not a pothole,’ a spokesperson said.

‘It’s a service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCalGas, who expects the work to be completed by the end of May.

‘As is the case with similar projects impacting city streets, SoCal Gas will be required to repair the area once their work is completed.’

A representative for Arnold did not return a request for comment, NBC News said.
