Armor Wars writer ‘promises’ Don Cheadle series ‘is still coming out’
Saturday’s huge Marvel presentation at Comic-Con revealed the first look trailer at Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as well as confirmation of two new Avengers films.
However, fans were fearing the worst after fresh details on Cheadle’s supposedly upcoming show Armor Wars was left out.
Many voiced their concerns that the drama had been quietly canned on social media, with one writing: ‘So is that Don Cheadle show still happening or….’
‘WAIT!!! Where the hell did Don Cheadle’s Armor Wars show go?! @MarvelStudios I need ANSWERS!!!’ another asked.
Luckily, Armor Wars writer Yassir Lester confirmed that the highly anticipated project is still in the pipeline.
Taking to Instagram Stories, they penned: ‘I promise it is still coming out’.
News of Armor Wars was first teased earlier this year, with Cheadle hinting that it is ‘an opportunity to really discover who [Rhodey] is in a way that we have not had before’.
‘The most exciting things are still to come and those things were hinted at in Endgame,’ he also said of the series.
‘Where this character might go? What might be in the offing for him? It’s very early in the process for Armor Wars. We just hired my boy Yassir [Lester], which I am very excited about.
‘He wrote on Black Monday. Became friends with him, really close with him. Great guy, a lot of great ideas. Honestly, we’re still trying to crack the spine of what it’s going to be and chop it up.
‘I couldn’t give you the answers if you wanted them, because we’re in the “clay mode” right now.’
The official Disney Plus website also lists the series, along with a synopsis that reads: ‘Armor Wars, based on the classic Marvel comic series, comes to Disney Plus starring Don Cheadle as James Rhodes aka War Machine who must face what happens when Tony Stark’s tech falls into the wrong hands.’
