Armie Hammer’s estranged wife secretly emailed media about marriage troubles: report
She got by with a little help from her friend.
Armie Hammer’s estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers allegedly used her friend’s email address to secretly talk with journalists as their marriage became destroyed.
CNN reported Monday that it has obtained emails and text messages from the friend’s account that claim Chambers, 40, discreetly pretended to be the friend and reportedly provided media outlets with information about Hammer, 36, in the months before and after news of his affairs and sexual abuse allegations became public.
Hammer has denied all allegations against him.
Chambers’ friend — who wanted to withhold her name in the CNN report for privacy concerns — told the outlet that she’s releasing the alleged receipts because she thinks the whole plan “went too far” as she was trying to “support my friend while she was going through a difficult divorce.”
She also said that she and Chambers are no longer pals and claimed that she would sometimes talk to reporters on the phone while Chambers stood next to her, feeding her what to say. This made the friend feel “pressured” to keep it going, she told CNN.
Also included in CNN’s evidence are alleged screenshots of Chambers and her friend talking about the impersonation.
The Post has reached out to Chambers’ rep for comment.
This revelation comes a week after the woman known as Effie — who runs the now-famous Instagram account, House of Effie, that first leveled the sexual misconduct claims against Hammer — posted screenshots of messages allegedly from Chambers, asking her to keep posting to bring Hammer down.
“I really need custody of my precious children,” Chambers allegedly said in the conversation. “Do you think you could make a declaration this week? It will all be private … I don’t want to pressure you, but your insight is much more in depth than the others we have.”
Details of Hammer’s allegations of sexual abuse are once again making headlines thanks to the recent Discovery+ docuseries “House of Hammer.”
Chambers sat down with E! News for an interview last week for the first time since the horrific rape and cannibalism accusations were made against her husband.
Although she admitted the last two years have been “hell” for their family, she also surprisingly stated that she and Hammer are “in a really great place.”
“We talk all the time. We’re committed fully and wholly to our children and to being together as much as possible in a non-romantic way for our kids. Kids need their mom; kids need their dad. So there’s nothing we won’t do,” Chambers said.
She also stated that she has been “supporting” Hammer through his “healing” and even appeared to hint that her ex has been reformed, claiming that “people change.”
“Armie has been focused on his healing. I’m here to support that process. It’s going to make him the best father, the best person he can be,” the brunette explained. “At the end of the day, that’s the goal. We’re in constant communication and all that matters is that he is the best dad for our children.”
