Apple TV’s Finch Trailer Shows Tom Hanks Survive a Global Apocalypse
Apple has dropped the first trailer for the upcoming Tom Hanks-starrer Finch. Formerly titled Bios, Finch follows the only survivor of a global apocalypse who wants to find a new home for himself, his dog, and a robot.
Finch is directed by Game of Thrones’ Miguel Sapochnik, who had directed the fan-favourite Battle of the Bastards episode. The movie is written by Ivor Powell and Craig Luck. Robert Zemeckis is producing Finch, who worked with Hanks on 2000’s Cast Away. The movie was supposed to be released theatrically by Universal Pictures in October 2020. After being delayed, Finch was acquired by Apple in August.
The movie’s cast features Hanks as Finch and Caleb Laundry Jones as Finch’s android Jeff. Finch is a robotics engineer, who is one of the few known survivors in a world that is mostly destroyed by a catastrophic solar event. After spending many years locked in a bunker with his dog named Goodyear, Finch builds Jeff to take care of Goodyear after he is gone. They go on an adventure across the American West, where Finch tries to show Jeff the joy of being alive. Apple has described the movie as the “moving adventure of one man’s quest to ensure that his beloved canine companion will be cared for after he’s gone.” The new movie follows up on Hanks, who starred in Apple’s World War II movie Greyhound in 2020.
Finch will release on Apple TV+ on November 5.
