apple: Apple MagSafe like charging may come to Realme phones – Times of India

A charging technology similar to MagSafe, Apple’s wireless charging tech, could soon come to Android phones, courtesy of Realme. The Chinese technology company has acquired the “MagDart” trademark from the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and now the renders for the devices have also appeared online, as per a report by GizmoChina. These include two magnetic wireless charging units, one circular and the other, box-shaped.
The circular one bears a huge similarity to the design of the MagSafe charger for the iPhone 12 series and is rumoured to be a little thinner and come with 15W magnetic charging. The second, box-shaped Realme charger could come with faster-charging speeds. It has a USB Type-C port and a grille at the bottom. The circular one could work by attaching magnetically to the back of the smartphone.
Realme may unveil the new charging tech with the launch of its next flagship, probably. The company has a high chance of becoming the first Android OEM in the market to offer magnetic wireless charging. True, it seems to have been inspired by the design elements of Apple, but bringing the wireless charging technology to Android phones could spark a shift in the market. Other BBK Electronics brands like OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo may soon follow suit with their own wireless magnetic chargers.
In other Realme news, the company has begun the rollout of Realme UI 2.0 for Realme C15 and Realme C12 smartphones. The stable rollout comes as a part of the company’s Realme UI 2.0 (Android 11) roadmap and is now available to download for both smartphones via OTA update. Realme has also confirmed that the update will be available to a limited number of Realme C12 and Realme C15 users initially and will be followed by a wider roll out later.
