Apple: Apple is looking for ‘generative AI’ engineers, here’s what the JD says – Times of India

Apple is on a hiring spree for engineers and scientists to work on artificial intelligence, and now the company is looking for a software engineer with a background in generative AI to work on the “most advanced technologies.”
How the JD describes the role
The job description specifies that the engineer must have prior experience in Machine Learning and be interested in Conversational and Generative AI. The engineer’s task will be to develop machine learning models for creating augmented and virtual reality apps.
“AI represents a huge opportunity to elevate Apple’s products and experiences for billions of people globally. Apple’s Learning Technology Group is looking for Machine-Learning engineers with a background and/or interest in Conversational and Generative AI! You will be leveraging innovative models to build applications on top of Apple’s most advanced technologies, while developing your expertise in Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR),” reads the job description.
While it may not be about creating a conversational bot like ChatGPT or Bard, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman believes that with generative AI, there could be a way to create apps directly in the augmented and virtual reality environment, which is what Apple’s much-anticipated mixed-reality is all about.
The Information in January reported that Apple is developing new software tools that will enable developers and customers to create augmented reality apps for its headset, with the help of Siri.
Earlier this year, The New York Times reported that engineers at Apple are currently testing language-generating concepts for Sir.
During a recent investor call, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, acknowledged the importance of generative AI, saying it is “more than the topic of the day,” and “certainly very interesting.” However, Cook also cautioned that AI has “issues that need to be sorted.”
There are as many as 88 job listings on Apple’s careers page by searching for “AI,” and 48 of them if you search for the term “Generative AI.” Various positions are available, including Multimodal Generative Modeling Research Engineer, Visual Generative Modeling Research Engineer, and Machine Learning Engineer with a focus on generative AI.
