Apple announces five new features coming to its lineup of AirPods

Apple is turning this fall into a festival of good vibes. The Cupertino-based company plans to release five audio features across AirPods, which are meant to further improve the personal audio experience of all Apple fans using its earbuds.

Three of these features – Adaptive Audio, Personalized Volume, and Conversation Awareness – will be available for AirPods Pro 2 users, while Automatic Switching and Mute or Unmute will be available for the entire lineup of AirPods.

Starting this fall, software updates will begin delivering the new features to compatible AirPods models. Adaptive Audio will be among the first to be released, so AirPods Pro 2 users will be offered a new way to reduce loud environmental noise.

Adaptive Audio is a new listening mode that combines Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancelation based on the conditions of a user’s environment to provide the best experience. The new listening mode has been designed to adjust the noise control experience while users move between different environments and interactions.

Another new feature coming this fall, Personalized Volume, uses machine learning to understand environmental conditions and listening preferences to automatically fine-tune the media experience.

On the other hand, Conversation Awareness brings AirPods Pro 2 users a new way to engage with people while wearing their earbuds. Thanks to this feature, the volume will be automatically lowered, and the voices will be enhanced in front of the user, all while reducing background noise.

Furthermore, Automatic Switching is getting an update to make it even easier to switch between Apple devices with AirPods. The connection time between a user’s Apple devices should be significantly faster and more reliable after the update.

Last but not least, the Mute or Unmute feature will be coming to AirPods (1st and 2nd generations), AirPods (3rd generation), and AirPods Max. It will allow users to press the stem (Digital Crown on AirPods Max) to mute or unmute themselves.
