Apex Legends’ Next Gen Update Releasing “Soon” According To Leaks

We’re only a couple of weeks away from December, which means 2021 is drawing to a close and fans are still yet to see the arrival of Apex Legends’ next-gen performance update.

The update was reportedly set to arrive in 2021, but it looks like it could be arriving at the beginning of 2022 if new leaks are to be believed. Thankfully, the new year is right around the corner, which means fans won’t be waiting too much longer for Apex Legends‘ next-gen performance update.

Leaks Reveal Apex Legends’ Performance Update Is “Close”

ThordanSmash, a leaker and YouTuber that covers all things Apex Legends, recently uploaded a new video where he breaks down everything we know so far surrounding the anticipated update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

We know that Respawn Entertainment is working on the next-gen update for Apex Legends, as files were data mined by KralRindo back in October with scripts for the PS5 DualSense Controller. Of course, none of the scripts were activated yet but simply shows that the update must be drawing closer.

But now another leaker and data miner, Shrugtal, has discovered new files with codenames for the Xbox Series X|S. ThordanSmash believes that the inclusion of these new files for the Xbox Series X|S could mean that the next-gen update is extremely close to completion.

The next-gen update for Apex Legends will reportedly target 120FPS, with this being one of Respawn’s high priorities according to Steven Ferreira, Team Director. It’s possible that the update will also allow fans to play at a crisp 4K if your monitor/television supports it.

Apex Legends Next Gen Release Date

So, when exactly could the next-gen update for Apex Legends be released? Well, ThordanSmash theorized that it could be arriving in Season 12 in 2022, possibly even around the anniversary of Apex Legends between February 4th to February 9th.

However, although all of this information comes from trusted sources, it’s important to take leaks with a pinch of salt until it’s made official by Respawn Entertainment or EA.
