Apex Legends Leaker Claims Single-Player Rumble LTM Is Legitimate

A rumored Apex Legends LTM referred to as Rumble Royale (or Royal Rumble) by leakers and data miners is legitimate, according to Apex Legends leaker and data miner ThordanSmash, who confirmed the LTM’s existence on Twitter over the weekend. The popular Apex content creator also voiced concern about the potential for game-breaking bugs being introduced alongside the new mode.

ThordanSmash has accurately leaked quite a bit of Apex Legends content in the past, including the existence of the new Sun Squad Collection Event legend skins. According to leaks, the new LTM is a solos-only mode where everything is randomized, from PvE encounters with wildlife to the map itself, though it’s unclear exactly how the latter feature might be implemented. In addition to shedding the standard three-player squad, players will also be leaving legend abilities behind, forcing them to rely solely on their wits (and their ability to nail headshots) instead of their favorite legend’s special skills.

This will certainly make the game more challenging–and more exciting–because although each legend’s individual abilities will be inaccessible through traditional means, new consumable items in the loot pool will serve to replace them. Each consumable has its own benefits and drawbacks. According to another leak from earlier this month, Rumble Royale consumables will include:

  • Stim: Increases speed and health regeneration, but also increases damage taken and temporarily blurs your vision.
  • Cloak: Makes players invisible for a time, but also silences footsteps and gunfire (This could mean players lose the ability to hear while invisible–the wording in the leak is rather ambiguous.)
  • EMP: Disables enemy electronics and shields, but damages the player who detonates it while also revealing their location.
  • Berserk: Increases melee damage and knockback distance (great for taking on those randomized PvE Prowlers), but decreases weapon accuracy and range.
  • Swap: Allows players to swap their location and loadout with an enemy, though obviously said enemy will immediately know your location–and what kind of gear you have.

Speaking of loadouts, pre-set loadouts will not be a part of this LTM, nor will players be allowed to select their weapons from the loot on the ground. Instead, every player’s loadout will be completely randomized each game. But a new set of LTM-exclusive hop-ups will give players a bit more control over their gameplay experience. These hop-ups include special rounds that cause bullets to ricochet, explosive bullets that deal splash damage, the return of Disruptor Rounds (increased shield damage, decreased health damage), new incendiary rounds, and Smart Bullets that automatically lock on to enemies, a reference to Titanfall 2’s Smart Pistol.

All leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, and it’s worth remembering that if the new Rumble Royale LTM is indeed legitimate, it’s still currently in development, meaning some of the details could change before it’s released. Although the mode may go through some changes before players get to experience it, recent in-game references to the Rumble LTM suggest it’s more than just a rumor. Assuming players do get to see the new mode in action as the leaks describe it, Rumble sounds like the perfect recipe for some chaotic fun, and will undoubtedly provide a great opportunity for seasoned players to mix things up and tackle new challenges.
