AMARAVATI: In a major development, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri has agreed to provide healthcare services under Dr YSR Aarogyasri scheme. All the healthcare services listed under Arogyasri scheme will be provided at AIIMS, Mangalagiri. The state government has signed an MoU with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Thursday. Health minister Vidadala Rajani, AIIMS director Dr Tripathi, principal secretary (health) MT Krishna Babu were present during the signing ceremony held at APIIC buildings.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Rajani said that they have roped in AIIMS as part of the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ambition to provide best healthcare services to the poor. “We have actually launched trial run of implementation of Aarogyasri at AIIMS few days ago. About 100 patients were provided treatment for various diseases under Aarogyasri at AIIMS and found it successful. We are now rolling out the scheme for all the eligible patients,” said Rajani. She said that all the services under Arogyasri would be provided free of cost. Minister said that they would be launching PET scan at AIIMS to screen patients for cancers. She said that they have decided to make AIIMS one of the super specialty unit for cancer treatment. She said that they have set their focus on providing dedicated water services to the institution by next June. She said that they have been transporting about 6 lakh litres from Vijayawada municipal corporation and Mangalagiri-Tadepalli corporation to AIIMS and started works on laying the dedicated pipeline. She said that the pipeline would be completed by June. AIIMS deputy medical superintendent Vamsikrishna, family welfare commissioner J Nivas, special secretary GS Navin Kumar Arogyasri CEO Harendira Prasad and others were present.
