Anushka Sharma, Javed Akhtar, Bhumi Pednekar, Ajay Devgn and others pay tribute to Pamela Chopra

Pamela Chopra, who was the wife of filmmaker Yash Chopra and mother of Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra passed away this morning at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. She was 74 years old and was admitted to the hospital for the past fifteen days due to age-related health issues.

Many Bollywood celebs took to social media and paid their condolences.

Javed Akhtar tweeted about her death and wrote, “Today Pam ji, the better half of Shri Yash Chopra has passed away. She was a great lady. Intelligent, educated, warm and witty. Those who like me have worked closely with Yash ji know about her contribution in his scripts and music. She was an exceptional person.”

Anupam Kher also took to Twitter and posted an old picture of Yash Chopra with Pamela and wrote “Dekhi zamane ki yaari, bichde sabhi baari baari.. Goodbye Pam Chopra!! You and Yash ji were an integral and important part of my years in Mumbai! I always considered your smile as one of the beautiful gifts given to me by life. I was lucky that I got to spend a lot of time with you! Om Shanti!”




Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “RIP Pam aunty.”

Sanjay Dutt, on the other hand, tweeted, “My heart is heavy with the news of Pamela aunty’s passing. Her impact on the industry and the lives she touched will always be remembered.”




Bhumi Pednekar too took to Instagram stories and shared the Chopra family’s statement with hand-joining (prayer) emojis.

Ajay Devgn tweeted, ” My thoughts & prayers are with Adi, Rani, Uday and all members of the Chopra family in their hour of grief. RIP respected Pam Chopra Ji. Om Shanti.”


Madhuri Dixit tweeted, “My heartfelt condolences to Adi, Rani, Uday and the Chopra family. I will always remember Pam Aunty as an extremely elegant lady with a great sense of humor and she always loved taking care of everybody. My heart goes out to you all at this difficult time.”




A.R. Rehman also tweeted with a picture of Pamela and wrote, “Condolences to the family ..we will miss her kind presence and warmth.”
