Antiques Roadshow was cancelled tonight – and people really are not happy.

The classic BBC show was scrapped last minute in favour of environmental programme, Our Changing Planet, despite airing weekly in the same time slot.

Confirmed by the announcer just after 8pm, when the show usually airs, the BBC said: ‘Due to the excitement of the football, we’ve a change to our schedule.

‘No Antiques Roadshow and later than billed, our Changing Planet.’

Indeed, football was airing on the channel this evening, with kick-off between Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United commencing at 4:30pm.

Following the second semi-final at Wembley Stadium, Gary Lineker fronted Match Of The Day to discuss all the action from the pitch.

The shake-up has left viewers less than pleased, though, as they took to Twitter to express their anger over the disruption to their Sunday night routines.

‘Antiques Roadshow cancelled tonight because the football overran… fuming! My Sunday is ruined!!’, one person raged.

‘Fewmin no #Antiquesroadshow @BBC shambles yet again [sic]’, penned another.

Another bewildered individual wrote: ‘“Due to the excitement of the football…. NO ANTIQUES ROADSHOW” whaaaat?’

‘BBC not airing #AntiquesRoadshow because football overran. I take this as a personal attack’, another tweeted.

Blasting the replacement programme, one Twitter user said their ‘usual Sunday routine’ had been spoilt, making a sarcastic comment about planetary conservation being ‘more important than antiques.’

‘The BBC has literally ruined my week by taking Antiques Roadshow off the schedule for tonight. Shame on you’, one Antiques Roadshow fan added, with a second replying to say they were ‘disappointed to say the least.’

The BBC has been contacted for comment.
