Anthony Joshua given Oleksandr Usyk message after Tyson Fury offer claims

Anthony Joshua has been told he’ll have to be lucky if he is to defeat Oleksandr Usyk in their second fight.

Joshua suffered the second loss of his career when he fell to Usyk in September, the Ukrainian outclassing the Brit and winning via a unanimous points decision.

It was a loss for Joshua that scuppered any immediate hopes of fighting compatriot Tyson Fury in a potential money-spinning heavyweight contest.

If that bout is to ever take place, Joshua will need to avenge the loss he suffered in September.

And Joshua has been told by former British heavyweight David Price that he’s going to need luck on his side if he is to defeat Usyk.

Speaking to TalkSport, Price said: “I just think Usyk has got his number. Every fighter has an opponent where that style of fighting and that man in particular [has his number]. You’re just going to have to be really lucky to win the fight,” Price told Talk Sport.

“You can be lucky, but luck also creates itself with mistakes that are made by the opponent. I do not think Usyk is someone that will make the mistake where he will put himself in a position to be knocked out by an Anthony Joshua punch.”

Joshua was reportedly offered a large sum of money from Fury’s camp to step aside for the Gypsy King to face Usyk in a bout that would unify the heavyweight championship.

However, Joshua refused to acknowledge any talks with his camp stating that he’s focused on avenging his loss to Usyk.

A fight against Fury would be one of the most highly-anticipated heavyweight fights in British boxing history.
