Anne Marie gives ankle update to fans after Brit Awards fall

Singer Anne Marie has given a witty update after she took a dramatic tumble during her live performance at the Brit Awards. The star took to Twitter to have a laugh at herself, writing: “Didn’t need my left ankle anyway”

Never one to miss a marketing opportunity, eyewear brand Specsavers ribbed the singer replying “@AnneMarie Your next visit’s on us x”. The singer’s fans had earlier been concerned when just after starting her performance in a striking red leather dress she slipped on the way down some stairs that made up the stage set.

Unfazed, Anne Marie, 30, didn’t miss a beat as she continued singing through the tumble, styling it out like a professional, with fans branding her a ‘boss’. The singer from Essex was performing one of her hits, the platinum certified Don’t Play, alongside YouTuber and rapper KSI, 28, with the pair having both been nominated for best song.

Fans concerned for Anne after she hit the deck quickly expressed their worries on Twitter, with one writing: “Hope anne is ok #brits2022 #BRITS”, another adding “Oh no Anne-Marie, it’s okay. You’re great #BRITs”.

“Poor Anne-Marie! She looks shaken after that,” one tweeted.

But after the rest of the performance went off without a hitch a number of fans were also heaping praise on the singer for handling the difficult situation so well.

One said: “What a professional @AnneMarie is. A role model for everyone #brits”, while a second agreed: “That’s how you recover from a slip up on stage #Brits #brits2022.

This isn’t the first time a live performance at the Brits has led to a nasty fall, with none other than pop royalty Madonna famously falling down some stairs herself backwards in 2015 and hitting her head.
