People have been saying Andy Serkis and Michael Sheen look alike for years, but now even their own kids are getting confused.
Andy has revealed that Michael’s daughter mistook the Planet of the Apes star for her dad.
People have been confusing Michael and Andy for each other for years due to their similar looks, and the 57-year-old actor can recall one incident when Michael’s child Lily excitedly ran up to him at an airport after thinking it was her dad getting off a flight.
Andy – who is world renowned for his performance capture work – was being interviewed by The Guardian when he was asked by a reader if anyone has ever asked him for Michael’s autograph.
He replied: ‘Ha! No. But a funny thing did once happen. I got off a plane coming back from LA and the child of Kate Beckinsale ran up to me, thinking I was her dad.’
Kate and Michael were together from 1995 to 2003, and Lily Mo, now 22, was born in 1999.
He added: ‘I’d love to do something with Michael,’ which is definitely something we want to see.
Andy also gets told he looks like Ole Gunnar Solskjær, the former Manchester United player and manager.
The star added: ‘There’s a Man United manager too – Ole Gunnar Solskjær – who people have said I look like.’
Michael has also had his own experiences of mistaken identity.
In 2019, he said that he was once ‘chased down the street’ by Andy’s fans who were shouting ‘Gollum! Gollum!’
Michael has previously said he’d have Andy down as one of the actors to play him in a movie of his life.
When asked who’d be best for the role, he said: ‘Simon Pegg, Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis would play it in rotation as I already spend a fair amount of time being asked if I’m one or other of them and this would nicely add to the confusion.’
