Android users receive a free upgrade from Google – and gamers will love it

GOOGLE is letting a select number of Android users take their favourite mobile games to the big screen.

The tech giant has begun a beta trial with a PC application that lets users play mobile games on a laptop or desktop, to be known as Google Play Games.

There are currently more than 100 games available across the beta regions

“Besides enjoying your favourite Android games on a PC, you’ll have keyboard and mouse access, seamless sync across devices, and integration with Google Play Points,” Google wrote on the Google Play Games website.

“The Google Play Games mobile app is primarily focused on the instant games experience where you can jump right into casual games,” the company explained.

“Going forward, ‘Google Play Games’ will refer to the PC experience where you can enjoy your favourite Android games.”

The beta trial has been opened in 58 countries, including the UK, US, Australia, France, Germany and Brazil.

Anyone in these regions with an eligible account and PC will be able to download the beta, according to Google.

There are currently more than 100 games available across the beta regions.

However, Google has encouraged users to keep their eyes peeled for new games, which it plans on adding on a “regular basis.”

All Android users need is a computer that is compatible with the trial to try it for themselves.

Although it’s important to note that the new gaming option is only available for Windows PC owners, and is not yet ready for Apple Mac fans.

To check if your PC matches what Google is looking for, check out this list of requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 (v2004)
  • Storage: Solid state drive (SSD) with 10 GB of available storage space
  • Graphics: IntelⓇ UHD Graphics 630 GPU or comparable
  • Processor: 4 CPU physical cores (some games require an Intel CPU)
  • Memory: 8 GB of RAM
  • Windows admin account
  • Hardware virtualisation must be turned on

To install the beta programme on your PC, simply follow these steps:

  1. On your Windows computer, go to play.google.com/googleplaygames.
  2. Click Download.
  3. To install the app, open the downloaded file, then follow the instructions.
    • The installation can take a few minutes.

If your computer didn’t meet the minimum requirements, you will be notified and the installation won’t continue.
