It should prevent wandering eyes from seeing stuff you have to hide, like a surprise birthday present.

For those that don’t know Incognito mode, it’s a way to browse the internet without storing history or any other standard data about what you’ve been looking at unlike a normal tab.

Google has decided to take things a step further, allowing users to lock Incognito tabs.

So, even if you leave it open to look at again later, no-one else will be able to have a peek.

This will require biometric authentication from you next time you go to it.

And better still, Google is making it available to both Android and iOS users, so iPhone owners don’t miss out.

The tech giant said it is available to all Chrome users on iOS already.

And it’s currently rolling out to Android handset holders now.

How to lock Incognito tabs in Chrome

To turn on Incognito locking on Chrome, just open the app up.

Head over to Settings and look for Privacy & Security.

You should see an option called Lock incognito tabs when you close Chome.

Switch that to On.

Now whenever you open an Incognito tab on Chrome and leave it, no-one else can have a look.
