Analogue 3D is an Nintendo 64 Imagining, Supporting 4K Output With Original Display Modes & 100% Compatability

Retrogaming fans unite – Analogue Inc. has announced the Analogue 3D; an upcoming Nintendo 64 imagining supporting 4K resolution with original display modes.

Coming from the company that brought you the Analogue Pocket, Analogue DUO, Mega SG, and Super NT, the Analogue 3D features reference quality recreations of specific model CRT displays and Professional Video Monitors (PVMs). According to the manufacturer, the Analogue 3D is “the first and only aftermarket solution supporting 100% compatibility in every region”.

According to the technical specifications that Analogue has released, the retro console is powered by FPGA, but won’t support openFPGA. The console will play legacy N64 game cartridges via the dedicated cartridge slot and will feature four original-style controller ports, wireless Bluetooth as well as 2.4g, the Analogue operating system, and 4K HDMI output. “Analogue 3D is not designed using software emulation”, the website of Analogue reads. “It is designed using a specialty hardware chip called an FPGA, which operates on a transistor-level implementation of its functionality.”

For those unfamiliar with the Analogue OS, this operating system allows users to scroll through their game library with box art, game title screens, or artwork. It also offers save states and the ability to take screenshots. The OS is s designed to connect seamlessly to virtually every 8BitDo Bluetooth, 2.4g, and next-gen controllers (both wired and wireless) with support for button mapping. No actual release date for the Analogue 3D has been provided, but we do know that it’s coming somewhere next year.
