An arresting sight for Olivia Colman – On set of a wicked little film

The actor was seen inspecting the missive – as her co-star Jessie Buckley’s character was dragged away by police – while Filming Wicked Little Letters.

The period drama is based on the bizarre true story of a community which was rocked by a spate of scandalous, anonymous letters laden with expletives.

Local firebrand Rose Gooding, played by Jessie, is accused of sending the letters and faces losing her daughter as a result.

A local PC thinks something is amiss and endeavours to find the real culprit – with Rose’s pious neighbour Edith Swan, played by Olivia, entering the frame.

The cast and crew have taken over the picturesque town of Arundel, in West Sussex, which is standing in for nearby Littlehampton.

The movie – due out next year – is written by Jonny Sweet and directed by Thea Sharrock.

It also stars Timothy Spall, Joanna Scanlan, Gemma Jones and Eileen Atkins.

Olivia and Jessie also worked together on The Lost Daughter, a 2021 psychological drama based on a 2006 Elena Ferrante novel. Both earned Oscar nods for their parts in the film.

Olivia, 48, has become one of the country’s most celebrated actors, having been nominated for three Oscars in the past four years. She won Best Actress in 2019 for her portrayal of Queen Anne in The Favourite.

Jessie, 32, from Killarney, Ireland, was discovered on talent contest I’d Do Anything in 2008, then starred in TV’s Fargo, Chernobyl and War And Peace.

She has been nominated for two Oscars and three Baftas. This year she won a Laurence Olivier Award for her West End role as Sally Bowles in Cabaret.
