Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes in talks to host Oscars
Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes are reportedly lined up to host the 94th Oscars.
According to Variety, the three comedians are ‘finalising details’ to present the Academy Awards, making 2022 the first time the prestigious event has had a host in four years.
The outlet reports that producer Will Packer has ‘been in meetings for weeks,’ trying to figure out a plan for the big night.
The three stars themselves are yet to comment on the rumours, but Amy did tease that she has ‘Big fun news comin’ on Sunday evening.
The speculation comes after The Hollywood Reporter revealed how this year’s Oscars would be a ‘three-act show.’
A different host is said to be taking the helm for an hour at a time, with actor Tom Holland’s name also being thrown around as a possible host.
It’s also said that Mad Men star Jon Hamm has been in talks with producers over the weekend as a potential host for Hollywood’s magical night.
The different format for the awards is a bid to ‘lure a broader audience and share the burden of guiding the telecast.’
Jimmy Kimmel was the last person to take on hosting duties in 2018.
The hosts will be formally announced on Good Morning America on Tuesday.
Whoever takes to the stage to host, this year’s awards are set to be an exciting night, with some major projects battling it out for gongs.
Power Of The Dog absolutely stormed the nominations this year with 12, while Sir Kenneth Branagh’s semi-autobiographical project Belfast earned seven nominations.
Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons were all kinds of couple goals, as were Penelope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem, as all the lovebirds received noms.
Dune and West Side Story received a lot of love as well, although film lovers still believe there have been some mega snubs.
The 94th Academy Awards will take place on March 27.
Reps for Amy, Regina and Wanda have been contacted for comment.
