Americans say beloved British meal is their biggest ‘ick’ about the UK
The video shows Angelina, a Brit who posts under the username @angelina.pj on the platform, walking up to Americans in a park to ask them their thoughts.
And they didn’t hold back.
One person named and shamed the way British spell, and another brought up a certain haircut that she struggled to describe.
‘I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s like really gross. It’s like, giving fascism from like the 1940s vibes.’ Ouch.
One person said: ‘British people, or Europeans, generally think they’re better than Americans.’
While somebody else dragged Brits for: ‘The way that you guys spell stuff – just get so worked up about colour versus color. Like, who cares?’
But the Great British staple beans on toast, as well as the food in general, was the ‘ick’ that got the most votes by far.
One person said it was the ‘lack of seasoning on the food’, that makes it look ‘so unappetising’.
‘I say the food, mostly the beans on toast,’ agreed another, ‘but yeah, all the food that I had there is terrible.’
In total, from the nine people the poster spoke to, beans on toast got four mentions in the brutal clip, and just ‘the food’ got three.
Even though the video has almost 39,000 likes, plenty of people in the comments are unimpressed.
‘Hating on beans on toast but their cheese comes in a squirty tube,’ wrote one person.
‘I took this so personally,’ said another.
But one person argued: ‘I’m British and honestly idk why you lot like beans on toast it’s not even a 10.’
‘Wait until some of them find out we also like tinned spaghetti on toast…’ wrote somebody else.
