AMD will continue undershipping of CPUs and GPUs until Q1 2023
AMD recently revealed the company’s Q4 2022 and FY 2022 financial results. While the company’s Q4 2022 revenue came around the $5.4 billion mark, AMD’s total income was just around $21 million. This marks a stark contrast from the chip manufacturer’s income in Q4 2021, which came around $974 million, making it a 98% drop.
During AMD’s earnings call (via PC Gamer), CEO Lisa Su confirmed that the company will continue to undership its CPUs and GPUs until Q1. “In terms of the under shipment, I mean, I think we’re – we undershipped in Q3, we undershipped in Q4,” said Su. “We will undership, to a lesser extent, in Q1.”
With PC sales taking a downturn for the worse, the undershipping is AMD’s attempts to make sure that prices of its hardware don’t tank, as AMD will most likely cut down on supply to meet with the lowered demand for hardware.
