AMD software updates
AMD’s software improvements will benefit streaming, as the new technologies will provide a “new level of visual quality and integration.” AV1 encode support ensures higher image quality at lower bitrates, along with enhancements with artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Improvements to AMD SmartShift will help in enhancing CPU and GPU managements, as well as AMD SmartAccess which will allow the CPU to get the most out of the GPU’s RAM. AMD says this will provide up to 30% faster transcoding, 60% more battery life in League of Legends, and 33% more FPS in Forza Horizon 5.
AMD SmartShift RSR will allow upscaling technology decoupled from the GPU and add more gaming performance. It’s set to come out in the first half of 2023. AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.0 is also coming soon and will be available in 230 games.
The HYPR-RX mode will allow full throttle gaming to get more performance. It will also minimize input lag. This mode combines Radeon Anti-Lag, Radeon Boost, Radeon Super Resolution technologies. Also set to come out in the first half of 2023.
