Amazon slashes new seller fee by 50% in preparation for festive season sale
This is one of the fees that all sellers pay for selling their products on Amazon India and is calculated as a percentage of the total sales price that is paid by the buyer, the company said in a statement.
The development comes as etailers gear up to slug it out during the festival season.
ET reported on September 8 that Amazon, Flipkart, among other online retailers have communicated to sellers for an end of the month start of the big sale event. Several brands, sellers, and ecommerce executives told ET they expect a noteworthy change in consumer sentiments potentially resulting in 30-40% higher sales during the
Diwali sales this year compared to last year.
This comes on the back of relatively muted sales clocked by these online retailer players due to inflationary pressures as well as offline stores opening up fully with
Covid cases falling.
Vivek Somareddy, director fulfillment channels, Amazon India said,“ We have over a million sellers from India who will have the opportunity to showcase their products to customers across the country during the festive season. We hope that this festive season will bring growth and success to all our sellers and that we continue to offer our customers the widest selection, convenience, and fast delivery for them to look forward to celebrating this festive season from the comfort and safety of their homes.”
