Prime Day is back! Amazon will revive its blockbuster sales event on October 11 – 12, 2022. For those who don’t know, Prime Day is a Black Friday-like deals bonanza that Amazon offers for its Prime members. It sees thousands of products discounted, with many dropping to their lowest ever price, across almost every department on the online store.
Amazon usually only holds Prime Day once a year, but this time around, we’re being treated to a second helping. And with Christmas fast-approaching, the timing couldn’t be better. Confusingly, Prime Day isn’t a single day, but instead runs for 48-hours on Amazon UK. Some deals will be available for the duration of the sale, while others will be limited-time discounts. In previous years, Amazon has also been forced to end some promotions early as they’ve run out of stock.
Yes, if you want to bag the best bargains – you’ll need to set an alarm.
To prepare budding bargain hunters, we’ve rounded up our top tips to secure the best deals on Prime Day 2. We’ve also got some predictions of the ultimate Prime Day deals to expect. And finally, you don’t even need to wait until Prime Day 2 starts on October 11 as Amazon has unleashed some incredible early deals ahead of the sales event.
Scroll down for the best early Prime Day deals too. But before that, there’s one very important bit of small-print to consider.
As the name suggests, Prime Day is only accessible to Amazon Prime members.
For those who don’t know, this membership scheme unlocks next-day delivery (and same-day delivery in some parts of the UK) at no extra cost on thousands of items, access to exclusive boxsets like The Rings Of Power, Clarkson’s Farm, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and The Boys on Prime Video, music streaming from Prime Music, and free PC games to download and keep from Prime Gaming. Prime members can even claim a one-year membership to Deliveroo Plus for free delivery at no cost.
Prime usually costs £8.99 per month, or £95 per year.
However, you can claim a 30-day free trial so you have access to all of the above perks and all of the discounts in the Prime Day sale. Even if you’ve claimed an Amazon Prime free trial in the past, the online retail firm will often let you test Prime once a year. So, it’s well worth checking whether your Amazon account is eligible again by clicking here.
Best early Prime Day 2 deals
Although Amazon refers to its October bargain-a-thon as the Prime Early Access Sale, we’re just going to stick with Prime Day 2 as it’s less of a mouthful. While the 48-hour sale doesn’t start until 00.01am on October 11, Amazon has already launched a number of brilliant deals for Prime members.
While Prime Day 2 will see discounts across thousands of popular products – everything from air fryers, alcohol, Smart TVs, fitness trackers, and LEGO – the discounts that Amazon has unleashed ahead of the sale are centred around its own hardware and services. That’s brilliant news for anyone who needs a new Fire TV streaming box, Amazon Echo smart speaker, or Ring video doorbell. There’s also an opportunity to unlock free £10 in credit to spend on anything in the Prime Day 2 sales.
We’ve rounded up the best early Prime Day 2 deals below, so you can get ahead of the crowds and start saving well before October 11, 2022.
When is Amazon Prime Early Access Sale?
The Prime Early Access Sale, otherwise known as Prime Day 2, will officially start at 00.01am on October 11, 2022 and end at 23.59 on October 12, 2022.
However, Amazon has already started to slash prices on a number of its best-selling devices and subscription services. The company has rounded-up its current promotions on the Prime Day deal page, which is updated every day. And remember, you’ll need to have a Prime membership to access any of these discounts.
How do I access the Prime Day deals?
Amazon only allows Prime members to access its deals and discounts.
That means that you’ll need an active membership to enjoy the discounts …otherwise, you’ll be forced to pay full price for the same products (and pay for delivery too!). If you don’t have an Amazon Prime membership, you can easily sign up for one here and get a free 30-day trial. If you cancel at any time during the Prime free trial, you won’t be charged (but you’ll still be able to take advantage of all of the deals available in the Prime Early Access Sale!)
If you do decide to stick with Prime membership after the trial ends, a subscription costs £95 per year, or £8.99 per month and offers next-day delivery at no cost, the ability to stream and download shows and films from Prime Video, free delivery on Deliveroo, two-hour delivery on grocery orders above £40 from Amazon Fresh and Morrisons, unlimited photo backup to the cloud, free PC games to download via Prime Gaming, and more. We’ve got all of the details on Prime membership here.
When is Black Friday 2022?
Prime Day isn’t the only blockbuster sales event taking place in the run-up to the holidays. As well as Prime Day 2, we expect to see huge discounts and deals in Black Friday. Unlike Prime Day, which is only available to Prime members on Amazon …Black Friday sees hundreds of retailers take part in the sale. Broadband companies, satellite television, subscription services, there will be hundreds of amazing deals. And don’t worry, Amazon will also take part in the best Black Friday deals next month too.
This year, Black Friday will be held on Friday, 25 November 2022. So, you’ve got a little while to wait.
Predictions: Best Prime Day deals

Prime Day Top Tips and Tricks
Get an Amazon Prime free trial
Although this may seem obvious, do remember to sign up for Amazon Prime before the sale starts so you can maximise the most of the short sale duration period. You can sign up here and also cancel anytime if you no longer wish to continue after the sale.
Make a wish list
Finding out what you need or want to buy ahead of the sale can help you alleviate shopping anxiety and overspending. If you’re buying Christmas presents, make a list of who you’re buying for and what you want to get them. You don’t have to know the exact product, but knowing what sort of item you’d like is good as it can help you stay on track.
Budget, but be flexible
Another tip to avoid overspending is to budget your maximum spend. However, be aware that you may spend a tiny bit over so having some flexibility will allow you to get the best value deals. The cheapest deals aren’t necessarily the best as you can find similar models with better features for slightly higher prices.
Price check
Other retailers will be expected to price match with Amazon so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the same product but at other places like Currys, Argos, John Lewis and more. It’s worth a check to see if other retailers will offer additional bonuses like freebies on orders.
What do I do if my Amazon parcel is missing?
Due to the countless deliveries in the Amazon Prime Early Access sale, it’s possible that some parcels may go missing. Nick Drewe, founder of WeThrift, recommends that shoppers immediately contact the retailer to notify them of the missing parcel. “As outlined in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the retailer has full responsibility for the condition of products until they are received by the customer.”
Another tip that he recommends is to check payment methods and if you use PayPal to purchase, then you’re protected by Buyer’s Protection Guarantee. If you use your credit card, you can try to claim the claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, as long as the paid item is worth from £100 to under £30,000. For debit card purchases, contact your bank and inform them you want to use the ‘chargeback scheme’ for non-delivered items.
Most Amazon sellers have a 30 day refund policy for their products, so if you haven’t received your products within this time frame, you’re entitled to a full refund. Fast delivery on Prime Early Access sale orders will be available at no extra cost
