Much like the rest of the world, Amanda Seyfried is so keen for another Mamma Mia film that she’s joked that the ‘plot doesn’t even matter’.

The 36-year-old Dropout star previously revealed that she wanted to do another instalment before she turns 40.

The actor was recently asked for an update on the prospect of another sequel, explaining that if an idea was put forward, she’d be eager to reunite the cast for another pop-filled outing.

When asked for an update on Mamma Mia 3 at Variety’s 2022 Power Of Women, she said: ‘They’ve just got to come up with an idea. Where do you send it? I don’t know. Who cares? The plot doesn’t even matter at this point. ABBA has got new songs, throw them in there, get the cast together again.’

Amanda added to Variety: ‘Meryl [Streep] will absolutely come back for the entirety of it… or else.’

The actress reprised her role as Sophie from the 2008 classic for the 2018 sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, in which Lily James played a younger version of Streep’s Donna Sheridan.

The movie featured Sophie reopening the Hotel Bella Donna and discovering more about her mother’s life.

‘Listen, it’s very indulgent for us,’ she continued to the publication. ‘We just want to go back to Greece and dance around, and then people will love that. So we would be doing a service to ourselves and to the fans.’

Meanwhile, co-star Colin Firth recently said another instalment could be a possibility.

While appearing on Good Morning America, he said: ‘I think it could happen. If you manage to make a second one, I guess you can make a third, a fourth, and a fifth.

‘It was already a miracle. And if people want it. I would do it just to see my friends again on some beautiful island.’

ABBA released new music with Voyage in 2021, their final studio album and their first in 40 years.

Meanwhile, Seyfried’s performance as fraudulent Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in Disney Plus series The Dropout recently impressed fans and critics, with some expecting it to lead to Emmy success for the star later this year.

The series follows the rise and fall of Holmes as she acquired billions of pounds from investors to develop a healthcare technology that put patients at risk and led to the former biotechnology entrepreneur being convicted of criminal fraud.
