Amanda Owen narrowly avoids casualties amid danger at Ravenseat

Amanda Owen said Ravenseat has been hit with bad weather as Britain braces for further wintry weather with more snow and ice warnings in place today and the threat of flooding before temperatures drop to -12C (10F) tonight. Our Yorkshire Farm star revealed she has been battling difficult conditions and feared for her herd of sheep.

Taking to Twitter today, the shepherdess shared a series of videos including one clip which saw one of her sheep being swept away in the river but fortunately making it out of the water.

Amanda penned: “Yesterday was horrendous.

“Sleet & snow thawing made for serious flooding & dangerous situations whilst trying to fodder the sheep. They stayed on low lying ground as gale force winds blew on tops but this was scary. You do your best but we were lucky that there were no casualties.”

Some of her 208,000 followers rushed to comment on the post as they reacted to her tweet.

The Environment Agency has issued 64 flood alerts and seven more-serious flood warnings across England.

The Met Office has issued snow and ice warnings for the Midlands up to northern Scotland until mid-morning.

This could mean travel disruption, particularly for high-sided vehicles, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport likely along with possible damage to trees.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Amanda shared a photo of Ravenseat which was covered in a blanket of snow.

She captioned the post: “Back to snow today,” with the hashtags: #yorkshire #shepherdess #snow.

Elsewhere, Amanda sparked a mum-shaming row with pictures of her daughters playing near an icing river.

The TV presenter, 48, posted snaps of her children playing as the UK continues to face a cold snap.

She was shamed for allowing the children to get so close to the river as her followers warned her it was dangerous.

One said: “Safety first,” while another commented: “Don’t go on the ice kids!”

“Do not walk on ice. [Amanda] is a public figure and her kids can help save lives by giving good advice,” said a third.

A number of fans were quick to defend the Our Yorkshire Farm star.

One hit back saying: “Amanda knows where the girls are safe. She would not let them go where it wasn’t safe.”

A second said: “It isn’t Amanda’s responsibility to look after other people’s kids.”
