Amanda Abbington backs Deborah Meaden as she blasts Twitter trolls
Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington, 49, stood behind business heavyweight Deborah Meaden, 64, on Twitter this evening.
The Dragons’ Den star issued a stern warning to trolls on social media after they criticised her appearance and made unfounded claims about her business acumen.
During tonight’s episode of the BBC show, Alicia tweeted: “I don’t know why I watch @BBCDragonsDen.
“I can’t stand @DeborahMeaden. She’s such an ugly, tight-fisted Lefty hag,” she added with a vomiting emoji.
To this, Deborah simply replied: “Which bit of that is relevant?”

At this point, Amanda weighed in, penning: “Go on Deborah.”
Deborah is a respected businesswoman, who is best known to the public as a ‘Dragon’ on Dragons’ Den, where she and other leading business experts judge and invest in budding entrepreneurs.
The comments directed towards her appear to be completely unfounded, which led many Twitter users to call out the trolling behaviour.
Other followers also took to the comments section to defend Deborah, with Harry writing: “If somebody asked me one of the most ethical and responsible business people in the UK, I think your name would be top… Seems patriotic dude has some sort of invisible grudge.”
Mark added: “Wish I had your ‘chequered business past’ and your business acumen.
“I know people who have met you and ‘thoroughly lovely person’ is also a phrase I hear.”
“Ignore people like that Deborah, not worth it, jealousy is a terrible thing,” Richard commented.
“Wow they’re all out today aren’t they? Do what you have to do and remember you are QUEEN!” typed Laura. (sic)
Express.co.uk have contacted Deborah’s representatives for further comment.
Dragon’s Den continues next Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
