‘Allah’ word was not removed from ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ played at Rajghat during visit of heads of states – Alt News

A video of foreign dignitaries, who were recently in India to attend the G20 Summit, paying their respects at the final resting place of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat is being shared on social media. The hymn “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” can be heard playing in the background. It has been claimed that the word ‘Allah’ has been removed from the song.

A user named Shalini Seth tweeted the video and wrote, “Well done Mr. Modi. Thanking you from the heart of every Hindu for playing the right version of this for the people of India and that too from Rajghat. Listen carefully and you’ll notice the word ‘Allah’, which was someone else’s contribution, was rightly removed and the correct hymn was played. What else could we want? Glory to the Sanatan Dharma.” (Archived link)

Fact Check

After examining the song playing in this clip carefully, we noticed that the audio appears to be edited. Alt News then performed a search on YouTube to find the video of the foreign delegates who attended the G20 summit and paid tribute at Rajghat. We found the video uploaded on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s YouTube channel on September 9.

We watched the entire video carefully and noticed that when the heads of state reached Rajghat, the song “Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye Jo Peed Parai Jaane Re” was playing in the background. After the group paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi and began exiting, the song “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sitaram” was being played in the background. It is worth noting that at the 7:39-minute mark, the line “Ishwar Allah Tero Naam, Sabko Samanti De Bhagwan” can be heard. In other words, it was falsely claimed in the viral posts that Narendra Modi had removed the word ‘Allah’ from the song in front of foreign guests at Rajghat.

NDTV’s YouTube channel also uploaded the full telecast of the foreign guests coming to the G20 summit paying tribute at the final resting place of Mahatma Gandhi. In this footage as well, at the 1:39:15 mark, the same lyric can be heard playing containing the phrase, “Ishwar Allah Tero Naam, Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwan”.

To sum it up, a number of social media users falsely claimed that the word ‘Allah’ was removed from the hymn being played in the presence of foreign delegates at Rajghat as they paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi.
