Tesco Clubcard is a staple in many purses – as well on digital devices via the Tesco app or Apple Wallet.

The dark blue supermarket loyalty card is well known to earn you points for your shopping and fuel purchases – as well as offering discounts in-store and online through its Clubcard Prices.

Points tot up into vouchers with a monetary value, which can be used as cash off your food shop – or you can get extra value from them if you spend with a reward partner.

However, not everything you buy at Tesco earns you these points.

Some items aren’t included in the loyalty scheme, and it’s good to be aware of what they are…

According to Tesco Clubcard’s own website, there are quite a few things you can’t collect points on.

Some – such as tobacco products like cigarettes – seem obvious, but did you know your stamps, lottery tickets or baby’s formula won’t net you any loyalty bonuses?

Fortunately, there are plenty of purchases that you will earn points for – namely most of your grocery shopping.

You’ll get one point per £1 spent – so if you drop £125 or £250 on a big food shop, you’ll get 125 or 250 points respectively.

Alcohol purchases DO get you points in most of the UK, but since April 2023, no Clubcard points are collected when buying booze in Northern Ireland – due to legislation changes.

You should also pick up points when buying items such as clothing, homeware or electronics.

Additionally, filling up your vehicle with petrol or diesel at a Tesco Petrol Filling Station earns you one point for every two litres bought.

And buying fuel from an Esso station connected to a Tesco Express earns you one point for every £3 spent.

If your phone is with Tesco Mobile, you can boost your Clubcard point earnings too – with one point for every £1 spent on Tesco Mobile Pay Monthly and Tesco Mobile top-ups.
