It means by the end of this week all Covid curbs in Britain have now been swept away after causing two years of travel chaos.

All passenger tests were scrapped earlier this month, making it easier and cheaper for families to jet abroad for some winter sun.

Passenger locator forms were kept as a last line of defence so officials could keep tabs on arrivals in case a worrying new variant reared up.

After weeks of being mothballed, the Covid O Cabinet committee was revived to green-light the changes today.

Airline bosses have been calling on ministers to axe the cumbersome forms, complaining they are pointless.

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary had said: “It’s a shambles. They should ditch it, it’s completely irrelevant. Nobody collects them, nobody checks them or follows up on them.

“They were designed to pretend that the politicians were doing something to protect people.”

The head of travel consultancy The PC Agency, Paul Charles, said: “This hopefully sounds the death knell of the passenger locator form, which has been a terrible barrier to people booking holidays.

“This April is due to be the strongest for the travel industry for over two years and my word how it needs it.”
