Wine tastings need not be for the rich, thanks to Aldi.
As always, the supermarket is striving to give us something for (almost) nothing.
Now branching into wine tours, Aldi has teamed up with Lyme Bay Winery – the producers behind its award-winning sparkling wine – to launch a ‘Specialbuy Vineyard Experience’.
Tickets cost just £2.67 – the price of a glass of Aldi’s English Sparkling – while comparable tours could set you back around £40.
And the best part? The tours are around an hour and a half from London, taking place in Chelmsford, Essex.
Seeing as the weather has been perking up, it’s the ideal time to talk around vineyards, sip on and learn about wine.
Guests can enjoy a tour of the vineyard, followed by an Aldi English wine-tasting led by Sam Caporn, aka Mistress of Wine.
What’s more, visitors will leave with a goody bag, which includes a full-size bottle of Aldi’s celebrated English Sparkling and some nibbles to accompany it.
Considering this is all less than a meal deal, it’s a pretty good way to spend a day in the cost of living crisis.
Tickets are on sale now, throughout English Wine Week in June, until June 25 and the events will run on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10.
Aldi’s own brand wine sales have jumped a huge 240% in just one year, and its English Sparkling and English Bacchus landed a spot in Which?’s recent Best Buy round up.

‘I’m thrilled to be able to show Aldi shoppers the fascinating journey that these bottles have undertaken to get from the vineyard, via the winery to the shelf where they can be purchased at great value for very impressive quality.’
