Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson involved in police chase, boyfriend arrested

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson was in the car as her boyfriend Dralin Carswell sped away from police.

The chase lasted roughly 3 miles until authorities caught up and arrested Carswell on DUI charges.

The 17-year-old reality TV star was reportedly not charged and is only a witness in the case, reports People.

The incident occurred Tuesday in Monroe County, Georgia, around 4:30 p.m. when an officer ran the tag of a Dodge Charger in front of a gas station on Highway 24, and found there was a warrant out for the owner’s arrest.

When the officer attempted to pull the car over, it sped north. It wasn’t stopped until the police used a PIT (precision immobilization technique) manoeuvre that involved disabling the vehicle by causing it to spin.

Carswell, 21, was then arrested on charges of DUI, fleeing, failing to maintain lanes and following too closely, according to the Monroe County Reporter, which first reported the details.

Another passenger in the vehicle, Julian Malik Divon Williams, 24, was also arrested on outstanding warrants.

Thompson was later picked up from Monroe County Jail by her sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, who has sole custody of the reality star.

Thompson and Carswell have reportedly been dating for the past two years. Although some have pointed out the age gap, which has certain legal implications due to Thompson still being a minor, she maintains that the relationship is positive.

The “two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he’s Black and I’m white and we’re an interracial couple,” Thompson said in a 2022 interview with “Entertainment Tonight.”

“I don’t care,” she added. “Because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we’re happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say, I don’t really care.”
