Alan Carr’s estranged husband slams comedian for claiming ‘custody’ of Adele

Alan Carr, 46 and his party planner husband separated at the beginning of last year following 13 years together and three years of marriage.

Paul has now called out Alan over his comments that he had “divvied up their celebrity friends” including singer Adele.

Paul stated that Adele was “closer” to him than Alan after previously staying tight-lipped about his divorce from the TV star.

He’s now speaking out following Alan’s remarks on an episode of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown last August in which he referenced their split.

Speaking to The Sun On Sunday, Paul said: “Adele is one of my best friends and the truth is she was closer to me than Alan.

“The comments he made were in bad taste. They really upset me, to be honest, as there was also the suggestion I was being greedy.

“I texted Alan afterwards and said, ‘This is out of order, it’s upset me and it’s upset my mum’.”

He then confirmed that the Chatty Man star didn’t respond.

Paul continued: “I sent Adele the same clip and she replied, ‘Just take the high road, babe,’ meaning just ignore it.

“She is amazing at giving advice, she really is. I know that whenever I need her, she will be there for me because she’s a loyal friend and an incredible person,” he finished.

A representative of Alan’s has been approached for comment by Express.co.uk.

Alan claimed that he’d “won custody” of Adele – who married the pair at her Californian home in 2018 – amid their divorce, while he also suggested that Paul had taken “half of everything”.

Adele got herself ordained so that she can marry the pair at her mansion, with the singer paying for their special day as a gift.

Alan made the aforementioned Adele comments during an appearance on the Channel 4 comedy show in August, in which he took out a series of cut-in-half props and joked his ex’s lawyer demanded half of everything.

He quipped: “My ex’s lawyer said take half of everything, look at that.

“But not just that, household items. Look at that, half a kettle, half a toaster, half a fondue set. All the cheese goes all over the floor.

“Obviously, people want to know about . . . we’ve divvied up our celebrity friends. I get custody of Adele. Paul gets Gok [Wan] at the weekends.”
