Al-Ettifaq set to appoint Gerrard and want to sign another Liverpool legend
Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq are close to confirming Steven Gerrard as their new manager and they then want to snap up another Liverpool legend in Sadio Mane.
Gerrard has been spotted in Saudi Arabia this week and it is believed that he will return to management with Al-Ettifaq imminently, becoming the latest big name to move to the Saudi Pro League.
The former England midfielder has been out of work since being dismissed by Aston Villa in October last year after a disappointing run of results in the Premier League.
He will be back in the dugout in Saudi Arabia, though, and earning an enormous amount of cash in the process as the Public Investment Fund continue to invest heavily.
They are keen on making more huge signings on the field as well, with Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane reportedly emerging as a target.
Sports Zone report that there is set to be a big offer from Saudi Arabia to bring Mane to Al-Ettifaq, seeing him link up with his fellow Liverpool icon.
The 31-year-old had a disappointing first season with Bayern Munich after his big move from Liverpool in 2022, scoring just seven Bundesliga goals in 25 appearances, only 18 of which were in the starting XI.
Bayern may have won the league title yet again, but Mane did not have the impact that many expected and the German giants are believed to be open to selling him this summer.
