AIIMS Bhubaneswar gets new executive director – Times of India

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the ministry of health and family welfare for appointment of seven persons to the posts of executive director of AIIMS at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Rishikesh, Guwahati, Awantipora and Darbhanga.

The executive directors will work for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post (it may further be extended upto five years) or till the incumbent attains the age of 70 or untill further orders.
Biswas, the new AIIMS Bhubaneswar executive director, is presently working as the director of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna. He has done his MBBS from SCB medical college and hospital Cuttack. He has completed his PG in general medicine from MKCG medical college and hospital Berhampur, official sources said.

Before joining IGIMS Patna this year, he was working as professor in the department of medicine in AIIMS New Delhi.

Similarly, Madhabananda Kar, professor and head of surgical oncology department, AIIMS Bhubaneswar became the new executive director of AIIMS Darbhanga, Bihar’s second AIIMS. He has completed MBBS from SCB medical college and hospital Cuttack and PG from SMS medical college and hospital, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

In absence of a full-time director for the past five months, functioning of AIIMS Bhubaneswar had gone for a toss. Pending files were piling up due to delay in its clearance. There was a dire need of one fulltime director to run the hospital effectively and smoothly.

After the end of the tenure of former director Gitanjali Batmanabane in December last year, the Centre entrusted the additional charge of director AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Mukesh Tripathi, director of AIIMS Mangalagiri, on December 20 last year.

Advertisement for the post of executive director for seven AIIMS including the AIIMS Bhubaneswar was issued in June last year. Interviews of eligible candidates were conducted in December last year.
