Aerosmith cancel another show due to unknown illness – ‘We apologise’

Aerosmith fans have had a double dose of bad news over the past few days. After the band cancelled one of their Las Vegas residency shows just a few days ago, the rock group have now called off a second event. The group posted an image on their social media accounts which revealed the circumstances of the show’s cancellation.

Aerosmith posted on their Twitter account: “Unfortunately tomorrow’s show, Monday, December 5th, in Las Vegas has to be cancelled.” They went on to add: “We sincerely apologize.” (sic)

The statement was accompanied by a message from the band’s singer, Steven Tyler, who revealed it is he who is unwell and cannot perform.

He said: “On the advice of my Doctor, I’m taking more time to rest… There is no where we’d rather be than on stage surrounded by the greatest fans in the world.” (sic)

The 74-year-old American star did not reveal any information about his mystery illness, but this is now the second time he has cancelled a show at the last minute.

Just a few days ago, on Saturday, December 3, 2022, Aerosmith cancelled another residency show.

They released a mournful statement at the time explaining what was happening behind the scenes. It read: “It is with great disappointment that we are forced to cancel tonight’s show in Las Vegas due to Steven feeling unwell and unable to perform. He is expected to make a full recovery for Monday nights [sic] Las Vegas show. We sincerely apologise for the last minute notice.”

Aerosmith are currently playing their Deuces Are Wild Las Vegas Residency Slot. The band are performing at the Dolby Live amphitheatre on the Park MGM Casino.

Tyler and his band – Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford – kicked off the residency spot on April 6, 2019.

Aerosmith were forced to pause the residency in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But they returned to the stage on September 13, 2022. The shows are running through to December 11, 2022.

In May, further shows were cancelled when Aerosmith announced Tyler had checked himself into a rehab centre to “concentrate on his health and recovery”. This move followed an addiction relapse after 10 years of sobriety.

In July, a representative for Tyler confirmed he had left the facility. They said: “He’s doing extremely well and looking forward to being back on stage.”
