Adopt a plant project launched at SDM School – Times of India
Apart from submitting a monthly report about the health of the sapling, each student will take care of the plant till she/ he reaches Std 10, after which the student will hand over the responsibility to some other student to take care of the plant.
CEV Chairman of Mangalore chapter P Kishore Rao urged the students to take up this project not only in the school, but also at their houses or premises. Jeevan Roche, who has planted thousands of plants in and around the city and is taking care of those plants, in his keynote address advised students to inform their parents to invest in nature like they invest in other financial savings.
Another CEV member Naresh Kini explained about the green project and how it is being executed by the institute all over India. Saplings like neem, amla, vishu flower, bilva patra kokum, etc were planted by the CEV members, Principal Joy J Rai and students around the school in a scientific way as per the guidance of Roche and the Karnataka Forest Department. Sahyadri Nursery supplied the saplings.
