Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan team up for the international release of Jawan

Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan have a history of creating box office history together with their previous collaboration Pathaan. The film still continues to captivate audiences, with plans underway to release it in Bangladesh – the first Indian film to do so since 1971. This time, however, Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan have set their sights on a new venture, with reports indicating that they are gearing up to give Jawan the broadest international release ever for an Indian film.

Rumours had been circulating a few months back that Aditya Chopra’s YRF had extended an offer to release Jawan as a token of gratitude for the massive success of Pathaan at the box office. However, there had been no official confirmation of the same until now.

On Sunday, Yash Raj Films finally put all speculations to rest as they took to Twitter to announce that they would indeed be releasing Jawan in the international market. The decision to release Jawan in the international market can be seen as a well-thought-out strategy by YRF, especially considering the unprecedented worldwide release that Pathaan received.

Pathaan was released across 100 countries outside of India on over 2500 screens, in addition to the 5500 screens in India. It will certainly be fascinating to observe the extent of Jawan’s international reach.

Jawan, initially scheduled for release on June 2, will now hit the theatres on September 7. The decision to postpone the release was taken due to the team requiring additional time to finalise the VFX and other aspects of the movie. This alteration in the release date has had a domino effect on the film industry, with several other movies also rescheduling their release dates.
