Adi Shankar’s Superhero Satire The Guardians of Justice Revealed for Netflix

Adi Shankar, known for his work on Netflix’s Castlevania, is gearing up for the arrival of his next project on the streaming service, called The Guardians of Justice. The seven-episode series will follow the adventures of super-hero Marvelous Man as he and his lieutenants Knight Hawk and The Speed race to stop a nuclear war from starting. The series will be a mix of live-action with traditional animation, claymation, cut out paper animation, and 8-bit video game footage “in a kaleidoscope of pop art insanity.”

“I’ve been meticulously sculpting #GuardiansofJustice a pop art superhero themed project for 6.5 years,” said Shankar in a social media post announcing the project.

The show, also known as Adi Shankar’s The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!), is a satire of the superhero genre and will debut at the Cannes film festival competing for the coveted Palme d’Or award in October. Following that, it will come to Netflix at an unspecified date.

“I will have a lot more to say about this project and the journey that gave birth to it in the upcoming months and I have a lottt of people to thank for helping bring this to life,” he said.

The Guardians of Justice stars Diamond Dallas Page, Sharni Vison, RJ Mitte, Hal Ozsan, Christopher Judge, Jane Seymour, Denise Richards, Derek Mears, and Andy Milonakis.

Alongside The Guardians of Justice, Shankar is also set to create a PUBG animated show for Krafton and an upcoming animated Assassin’s Creed show, with a Devil May Cry series thrown in the mix. IGN India recently had a chance to speak to Shankar on his thoughts about Indian game development, Netflix and the Metaverse. Despite suing Netflix for breach of contract regarding Castlevania’s upcoming spin-off, it’s clear that Shankar is set to continue his partnership with the service for multiple upcoming projects, which may even include video games one day.

Adi Shankar’s The Guardians of Justice will arrive on Netflix soon.
