Adele hailed an ‘angel’ as she invites Grenfell survivors to ITV concert
Adele left viewers in tears when she acknowledged the Grenfell survivors and firefighters in the audience of her London concert.
The Hello singer’s special episode of ITV’s An Audience With aired on Sunday evening and saw her perform songs from her new album 30 as well as former classics.
Among the A-listers in the audience, such as Dame Emma Thompson, Stormzy, Samuel L Jackson and Emma Watson, were a group of key workers. NHS staff members as well as survivors of the Grenfell fire, and the firefighters who tackled the devastating fatal blaze, received tickets to the hottest show in town as the music icon made her comeback.
At one point during the concert, Adele stopped to give the key workers a shout-out leaving viewers emotional.
Love Island star Shaughna Phillips tweeted: ‘Invited Grenfell survivors and firefighters ???????? Yeah I’m done, knight her, throne her, saint her. The cleanest of hearts and you can just tell without even knowing her.’
Influencer Grace Victory said: ‘Omg the Grenfell survivors are there.’
One fan weighed in: ‘Adele inviting the grenfell survivors, absolute angel.’
Another said: ‘@Adele just watching your performance. And thank you for inviting some of our Grenfell firefighters @LondonFire so well deserved. Hold On is my song on repeat x.’
One viewer commented: ‘Adele’s love for this city and its people is just so moving. Her dedication to the Grenfell survivors is genuine, strong and unwavering. I hope they and the essential workers who were invited to #AnAudienceWithAdele were able to enjoy a day of joy and respite. Sending love.’
Following the concert, Adele tweeted: ‘Home Sweet Home. I’ve always dreamt of doing An Audience With…
‘There was so much love in the room for eachother, it felt like such a gig! Everyone was raucous and bang up for it! And my teacher Ms McDonald was there, it was just heaven.’
An Audience With Adele is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
