Addicks boss wants up to three new signings ahead of new season

ADDICKS boss Ben Garner has admitted that he would like up to three more signings before the start of the new season.

The club have already signed five new players, including the likes of Steven Sessegnon on loan from Fulham and Cono McGrandles from Lincoln City.

Garner told the South London Press: “I’d like another two or three in the squad.

“There are one or two key positions that I do think we need to strengthen and have a little bit more depth there. And we’ll continue to do that while the window is open.”

Asked about which positions he felt needed to be bolstered, Garner declined to specify. He said: “As soon as you say a position then prices or wages can go up. We’re looking to get the balance we need, we’re not there yet.

“We’re hoping to get at least two in, if not three.

“If we can get them in before [the season starts] fantastic. From my perspective the earlier they come in the better, because it’s more contact time and introduction time with the club. But if we have to wait longer in the window then we will.”

One player that is reportedly close to joining the club is former Swindon Town midfielder Jack Payne.

The 27-year-old is a free agent after rejecting fresh terms at the club and is expected to sign two-year deal with Charlton.
