Adam Henson: BBC star and farmer gives his views on Clarkson’s ‘hysterical’ farm series

Car enthusiast Jeremy Clarkson, 61, released his first series of Clarkson’s Farm earlier this year following a delay due to the coronavirus. He has since announced a second series will be returning to screens at a later date, amid demand from fans.

Adam Henson has now revealed he is also a fan of the show and praised The Grand Tour star for highlighting the important factors in the farming world.

The 55-year-old said: “I’ve watched a bit of Jeremy Clarkson’s show, Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime, it’s absolutely hysterical!

“But he does show how complicated and difficult and expensive it is to run a farm.

“My family gets a bit bored of me watching farming shows, though, so I tend to watch them while they’re out.

The farmer added to WhatToWatch.com: “So there’s this hunger to learn about the great outdoors and farming and where food comes from, which as a farmer is music to my ears!”

Adam celebrated his 20th year on fan favourite programme Countryfile this year and told Express.co.uk he hoped for many more years on the show.

On how he was planning to mark the occasion, he laughed: “I might just have a quiet pint.

“It’s been amazing, I’m very grateful and very proud to be a part of such a successful programme really.

“Otherwise, I normally watch gritty crime dramas like Line of Duty and Unforgotten.”

Adam said the rise in popularity of farming shows is “music to my ears”.

“Now you’ve got Our Yorkshire Farm, Springtime on the Farm, and 101 different farming programmes.”

He went on to say that while each show is “slightly different”, they are all passionate about the same things such as climate change and the environment.

“I have made some good friends over the years and have worked with some amazing talented people.”

On his future on the show, he added: “I’m in the hands of the BBC commissioners, so while my face fits then hopefully they’ll keep me,” he said.

“As long as they renew my contract on an annual basis then I’ll stay, unless I’m tempted by another channel with something exciting to do then my heart is with the BBC.”

Adam has since been fronting his new show Our Family Farm Rescue.

The father-of-two meets fellow farmers risking it all in a fight for survival, by transforming run-down barns into luxuriously spaces, tapping into the lucrative tourist trade and maximising profit with farm-to-fork ventures.

Our Family Farm Rescue with Adam Henson continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.

Countryfile airs Sundays at 7pm on BBC One.
