Actor Mangal Dhillon, known for shows like ‘Junoon’ and ‘Buniyaad’, passes away due to cancer

Actor Mangal Dhillon, known for popular shows like ‘Junoon’ and ‘Buniyaad’, passed away today. He was battling against cancer and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ludhiana. Confirming the news, actor Yashpal Sharma expressed his sorrow over Dhillon’s death.

“Mangal Dillon Ji RIP,” Yashpal posted on Facebook. Several fans also expressed sorrow over the demise and remembered him for his acting skills. One of his fans tweeted, “Oh! He was a very good actor. I distinctly remember him from many serials – Junoon, Buniyad.”

Another mentioned, “He was quite a suave villain. Watched him first in Buniyaad.”

Mangal Dhillon was born in a Sikh family in Faridkot district of Punjab. He did his early years of schooling in Panj Graayin Kalan Government school. He then moved to Uttar Pradesh near his father’s farm. Mangal graduated from Zila Parishad high school in Nighasan, Lakhimpur Kheri district.

He completed his post-graduate diploma course in acting in 1980. Mangal made his debut in 1986 with TV show Katha Sagar and later appeared in another TV show Buniyaad. Other shows include Junoon, Kismat, The Great Maratha, Panther, Ghutan, Sahil, Maulana Azad, Mujrim Hazir, Rishta, Yug, and Noorjahan.

Mangal Dhillon also acted in several feature films including Khoon Bhari Maang, Zakhmi Aurat, Dayavan, Kahan Hai Kanoon, Naaka Bandi, Amba, Akayla, Janasheen, Train To Pakistan, and Dalaal, among others. He last appeared in the film Toofan Singh as Lakha in 2017.The actor was also a producer-director and writer. He was not only a big name in Bollywood and TV, but also in Punjabi films. He worked in many Punjabi films and made a distinct identity for himself. Mangal Dhillon was seen in Rekha starrer ‘Khoon Bhari Maang’. He also worked in other movies including ‘Dayavan’, ‘Zakhmi Aurat’, ‘Vishwatma’, ‘Pyaar Ka Devta’, ‘ Amba’, ‘Toofan Singh’, ‘Dalaal’, and many more.He was also part of well-known TV shows such as ‘Katha Sagar’, ‘Kismat’, ‘Ghutan’, ‘Rishta’, and ‘Param Vir Chakra’, among others. He played different characters on-screen and always gave his best.
