ABBA reunion ‘inevitable’ for 50th anniversary after Eurovision results

Over the weekend, Swedish act Loreen won the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest with her track Tattoo.

As is tradition, this means Sweden will now host the next Eurovision event in 2024. The city in which it will be hosted has not yet been announced, but in the past Eurovision has been held in Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg.

With that said, many people now believe Eurovision 2024 will mark the return of the iconic pop stars ABBA.

The band represented their home country of Sweden in 1974 when the competition was held in Brighton, UK. They won the battle with their iconic hit Waterloo.

Now Eurovision 2024 is being held in Sweden – exactly 50 years after ABBA’s triumphant win – what better time is there for the quartet to make a comeback?

Ladbrokes seem to think the ABBA comeback is destined to happen, as odds on the reunion have just been slashed to a staggering 6/4.

The bookies’ Alex Apati said: “How can Eurovision chiefs resist the thought of an ABBA reunion? The stars seem to have aligned and fans can start preparing for what feels like an inevitable and fitting comeback in 12 months from now, if the latest odds are anything to go by.”

If ABBA were to reunite, this would not be the first time British fans have seen them hit the stage in recent years.

ABBA recently unveiled their ABBA Voyage experience in London, UK, where their ABBA-tars played some of their biggest and best songs of all time.

The shows have been sold out for months, and sent attendees back in time to watch Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad perform as young 20-somethings once again – but this time in virtual reality.

And a source recently told The Sun that, after Voyage, fans are “desperate” to get the band back together in real life.

The source told the publication: “After Sweden won, people are going to be putting their Money, Money, Money on an ABBA reunion.

“They won Eurovision in Brighton in April 1974 and next year will be the 50th anniversary of that. Even if it’s their ABBA-tars performing a hologram show, fans are desperate for it.”

Considering Eurovision 2023 only wrapped up a few days ago, fans will likely need to wait for some time before they get any concrete announcement on ABBA’s potential reunion.
